The seapaddling.com Rough Water sea kayaking course is a full two-day course designed for those who have completed the Level 3 ICU course or can demonstrate intermediate kayak paddling skills and experience. The course will be run in conditions force 3 –5 which makes it a fun and exhilarating and will benefit anyone who intends to try their hand at open coast paddling or who think they would like to play in the surf. On the first day paddlers will learn to lean, brace and turn a kayak quickly and the practical aspects of wind and weather on the open sea. Participants will practice ferrying and using moving water to their best advantage and the day will conclude with a rescue practice session. Day two will cover the art of riding surf waves. This is an essential element of open coast paddling and a paddler will develop experience in handling waves and judging how to best negotiate or avoid surf landings. Note: Weather and water conditions are a major influence on sea paddling and we reserve the right to alter the schedule as needed. All kayaking gear is included in the cost, but you will need one night’s accommodation. We can book this for you if you need us to.
