trip introduces you to the highlights of sea kayaking – including exploring
inlets and caves – spotting the occasional seal and teaching you the basic
elements of kayaking in a friendly and interesting fashion…

'SALTEE WATER' - FULL DAY TRIP TO THE SALTEE ISLANDS FOR SEASONED PADDLERS:
Many people who own kayaks have
been looking for guided tours just for them. This trip to the off shore
home of one of Ireland’s only gannet & puffin colonies is designed to help
the recreational paddler get better acquainted with the ocean and all it has
to offer
IRISH CANOE UNION COURSES: LEVEL 1 & LEVEL 2 SEA PROFICIENCY:
So…you’ve never been in a kayak
but you’re one of those people who likes to be qualified in everything???
Look no further, as this course will not only enable you to master basic canoeing
strokes and techniques …...you’ll also have the piece of paper to prove it!
LEVEL 3 SEA PROFICIENCY:
Needless
to say, you must have obtained Level 1 & Level 2 Sea Proficiency before even
considering this course. Further your knowledge of weather conditions,
enable yourself to assist in rescues and use this opportunity to become proficient
enough to take part in sea expeditions.
PRIVATE TUITION: Are you a fast-learning whiz kid who’d like to do everything in one day and don’t have the time to spend on a weekend course? TRAINING WORKSHOPS: INTRODUCTION TO NAVIGATION FOR SMALL CRAFT: You’ve just bought a small craft – a kayak, a small fishing boat, or your kid’s dinghy… and you’ve realised that looking up at the sky and wondering if it’s going to rain is just not an accurate enough forecast for your future adventures… This course incorporates the factual information with the anecdotes that only several years on the sea can bring – from chart work to course plotting, from weather forecasting to the use of VHF radio.

This workshop could only be
led by a seasoned paddler who holds the current world record for the Irish
Sea crossing, the record for the fastest Around Ireland trip, an expedition
member of the first Irish expedition to paddle around the coast of Iceland.

the next step of planning an expedition this down-to-earth and realistic approach
aims to warn you of the potential pitfalls and assist in every step of this

SCHOOLS: The aim of every teacher is to provide a stimulating and entertaining educational experience for students – where they are attaining new goals and learning something new, while – miracle of miracles – actually enjoying the experience. The courses we offer are particularly suited to Transition Year students and LCA students, as it incorporates tuition and certification in kayaking (see Irish Canoe Union courses above), as well as basic water safety and awareness of the environment.

enthusiastic Geography teacher – are you aware that sea stacks/caves and all
those other exciting features of The Sea are all to be found on the Waterford
coast? The infectious enthusiasm with which this course is imparted
